WELCOME CARNIVAL GLASS COLLECTORS! Item Description: This is a beautiful, old and SELDOM SEEN N orthwood GRAPE AND CABLE GIANT COMPOTE in very desirable AMETHYST base glass - 8 1/2 inches tall and 10 inches wide...as the name implies...it is VERY LARGE! This super example is HOT! Gorgeous Multi -Color iridescence on an elusive piece to add to your collection! Condition wise very, very nice...please see below. A splendid example of this pattern, shape and color...add to it the imposing size of this large piece of glass and it is profoundly striking on display...one that will attract attention and command notice. This is an Elegant, pleasing and popular pattern and this hard to find piece will enhance and add value to your best collections. It is an old vintage piece, does carry the Authentic Northwood mark. If you have been wanting to add one of these to your collection, do yourself a favor and don't miss this one! It is a wonderful investment quality piece of glass. I have included several photos of the piece so you can see for yourself. It looks even better in your hands as it is always very difficult to capture a piece like this on film and do it justice. You can reference this piece in David Doty's 1998 Field Guide to Carnival Glass or The Encyclopedia to Carnival Glass and Edwards and Carwile. I guarantee this is authentic, early 1900's vintage Carnival Glass! All my pictures are taken outside, always, in natural, indirect sunlight against a dark or light cloth. No artificial light of any kind is ever used. If you like the color you see, that is what you will get...I never enhance photos. I do not use reserves, never have, I believe the buyers should set the value, so bid with confindence and have fun...it will sell to the high bidder. Item Condition: ( Pictures are part of the description...and I include lots of them...so please have a look!) This Giant Compote is in excellent condition ! No cracks, chips, or repairs. T are a few scattered manufacturing stretch marks, n othing u ncommon. T are some very tiny enclosed manufacturing bubbles, very small in size. Nothing uncommon at all. The base is in excellent condition...you can feel the mold seams and t is just very little shelf wear present on the underneath side...nothing more. The interior of the compote is beautifully iridized as you can see in the pictures and shows very little wear. The rim is very nice with only very slight wear present on the very edges...nothing uncommon. The exterior is very nice, the mold strike is exceptional. I did find three very tiny fleabites on the exterior pattern and one on the very end of a tooth...the largest one is pictured for you. You can see it is barely larger than the end of a pen. The other two are smaller than the end of a pen. Really insignificant on a piece of this magnitude...but they are t That is all I can find on this fantastic, beautiful, Giant Compote. I've looked it all over hard...I'm being very picky. I included lots of pictures, up close, so have a look. Its far better in person. It is a fantastic investment quality piece of glass...a center display piece! I collect Carnival Glass myself and I'm picky with my descriptions, like I like others to be when I'm buying so you know what you are getting. And as all of us in Carnival know color is key and this compote displays vibrant, vivid multi-color iridescence! Superb in natural light...this thing is a pleasure to look at! It is an excellent example of what Carnival Glass is all about. It is a clean example too...the new owner is going to love it! Please look over the pictures. You can't go wrong with this piece.
