Northwood Carnival Glass Lavender Bushel Basket EX

This Northwood Lavender Bushel Basket is in excellent condition. T are a couple of minor rubs to the irridescence. T are no chips or cracks. Both handles have straw marks that at first glance might fool you into believing they are cracked but these marks are characteristic of the molding process. This piece is evenly irridized both inside and out. It is signed with the Northwood Logo. It is overall a scant 4.75" tall and in diameter across the handles.
Carnival Glass is made by fuming or spraying hot pressed glass with metallic oxides. This forms an irridescent coating on the surface of the glass that reflects the colors of the rainbow. It is similar to the effect of oil on a puddle of water. Photographs can't totally reproduce the effect of light hitting the glass. As a longtime Antique Dealer I have collected a lot of glass.
