A vintage Northwood NIPPON dark or emerald green bowl. The color is lush dark green with deep purple highlights which changes to a greenish yellow in incandescent light with overall electric highlights as seen in the photographs. I have photographed it in various lighting combinations to highlight how it changes color depending on the light source. Sometimes it is hard to believe it is the same bowl!!! The mold is outstanding with high relief and very sharp. This combination lends to a striking coloration that is shown in the photographs. The back is the basket weave pattern typical for these bowls. Edwards in the 7 th Edition of the Encyclopedia of Carnival Glass shows this bowl on page 249 and states that the pattern is circa 1912. Condition is as follows : Overall, the piece is in excellent to mint condition for being about 100 years old. The points and body have no cracks or hairlines. I only spot two tiny interior glass bubbles and only a couple of minor and I do mean minor straw marks. T is a backside flake not visible from the top which you have to look for to find but it is t I photographed it under 25X magnification in photograph 6. Quite frankly, I didnâe(tm)t know it was t until I examined the bowl for this listing. The bowl measures approximately 2 ½ inches high and is approximately 8 ½ inches wide, so it is a full size example. My reserve on this item is my opening bid. If you are looking for a Northwood treasure at a great price, consider this one, you will not be disappointed. We are downsizing due to our age and you can take this one home for a bargain. Edwards lists the bowl in his 7 th edition at $325.00 . I am starting this one at 1/10 of the book value!!! My auctions always reflect a flat rate shipping price because I feel people should know how much they are going to spend overall. This item will cost $12.90 to assure safe delivery and that amount will include insurance and delivery confirmation .
