WELCOME TO MY AUCTION and THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY! MY AUCTIONS ALWAYS KICK OFF WITH VERY LOW STARTING PRICES AND NO RESERVES!!! SO ENJOY and I HOPE YOU RETURN AGAIN SOMETIME! Item Description: This is a beautiful, old Northwood GRAPE AND CABLE Hat Pin Holder in rich PURPLE Base Glass. It is 2 3/4 inches wide and 7 inches tall. The piece displays some flat gorgeous, strong Electric Highlights throughout the pattern...some gorgeous iridescent colors all the way around. Very showy in natural light as the pictures show. A sweet looking presentation with excellent visual appeal on the shelf. A beautiful piece of old Northwood! Take a look at the photos and see for yourself, they show it well. The piece does not carry the Northwood mark on the bottom...but approximately 1/2 of all Northwood made did not. It is an authentic Northwood piece....I guarantee it. A pretty example of this sought after, beautiful, old pattern, base glass color and shape! I have included several photos of the piece so you can see for yourself. It looks even better in your hands as it is always very difficult to capture a piece like this on film and do it justice. You can reference this piece in David Doty's 1998 Field Guide to Carnival Glass or The Encyclopedia to Carnival Glass and Edwards and Carwile. I guarantee this is authentic, early 1900's vintage Carnival Glass! All my pictures are taken outside, always, in natural, indirect sunlight against a dark or light cloth...no artificial light is EVER used! I never enhance photos, if you like the colors you see...that is what you will get! I do not use reserves, never have, I believe auctions should be...well...auctions! So bid with confindence and have fun...LOW starting bid...it will sell to the high bidder. Item Condition: (Pictures are part of the description...and I include lots of them...so please have a look!) This piece really pretty, but is cracked. Please read on...otherwise it is in great condition ! I can make out a few very faint m anufacturing stretch marks...n othing u ncommon in old glass. I don't see any of the usual, common, small manufacturing enclosed air bubbles. The Base and Feet are in very good shape...shows some extremely light shelf wear on the very bottom, nothing uncommon. The mold seams are a little rough to the touch on this one. Nothing bad...but they can be felt. I pictured one patch of roughness for you. In my opinion..it is just a patch of mold roughness, not fleabites, and not uncommon in old glass. Other than that the feet are in great shape. The Edge Treatment on the piece is well done...the top is shaped very well. The Interior ...it has a hairline crack that you can barely see in the last picture. You really have to study it hard to see it. It travels a way s down the piece and has been solidified on the interior with a bead of glue at some point in time. I missed it all completely when I bought it...but it is t Other than following this hairline on the exterior....I can't make out any other wear at all. It appears to have never been used which is exceptional. T he Exterior shows off good mold detail and very pretty colors. Other than the hairline...I can't make out any wear at all. Super pretty. T hat is all I can find on this super looking gem...it would make an excellent shelf piece with its intense color presentation and sharp looks in natural light. It is a wonderful piece of Northwood...very showy. I 've looked it over hard...I'm included lots of pictures, up close, so have a look. It is a pleasure to view on the shelf, don't miss out. I collect Carnival Glass myself and I try to be very thorough with my descriptions, like I like others to be when I'm buying so you know what you are getting.
