Item Description: This is a beautiful, old Northwood STRAWBERRY Collar Based Ruffled Bowl with the Basketweave Exterior in gorgeous AMETHYST Base Glass. The piece is 8 3/4 inches wide and 2 3/4 inches tall. This piece is flat STUNNING! It has some awesome rich Multi-Color iridescence. SMOKIN' HOT COLORS! Truly an outstanding look to this piece...a very high grade of displayability! The pictures show it off well...but its even better in person! It is one showy, fabulous piece. If you fancy yourself as being a color hound...don't miss sniffing this one out! Simply...pieces with this kind of color do not come up for sale every day...a far cry from average! Visually stunning on display. Please look over the photos and see for yourself. The piece carries the Northwood mark in the bottom. It is a wonderful example of this highly sought after old pattern, color and shape! If you have been looking to add on of these fine pieces to your collection...you'll want to give serious consideration to this one. LOOKING FOR A COLOR UPGRADE? This one may suit your needs. Its a super solid investment quality piece of glass. I have included several photos of the piece so you can see for yourself. It looks even better in your hands as it is always very difficult to capture a piece like this on film and do it justice. You can reference this piece in David Doty's 1998 Field Guide to Carnival Glass or The Encyclopedia to Carnival Glass and Edwards and Carwile. I guarantee this is authentic, early 1900's vintage Carnival Glass! All my pictures are taken outside, always, in natural, indirect sunlight against a dark or light cloth...no artificial light is EVER used! I never enhance photos, if you like the colors you see...that is what you will get! I do not use reserves, never have, I believe auctions should be...well...auctions! So bid with confindence and have fun...LOW starting bid...it will sell to the high bidder. Item Condition: (Pictures are part of the description...and I include lots of them...so please have a look!) This piece is in SUPER nice condition ! No cracks, chips or repairs. T are a few scattered, manufacturing stretch marks visible on the piece on the front...nothing u ncommon in old glass. T are a few very tiny manufacturing enclosed air bubbles, common in old glass and nothing uncommon The Base is in excellent shape...shows very, very little wear if any at all on the bottom, nothing uncommon. The mold seams are barely t to the touch. Sits flat, level and solid. Overall excellent! The Edge Treatment on the piece is superbly done, round and even all the way around. Super shape. The teeth are well formed and even all the way around. The only detraction I find on the entire piece is t is a manufacturing flaw w one tooth is not present. I've looked it over hard and this is a manufacturing flaw...the iridescence goes over the lip, no touch ups or buff marks are present. It was simply made this way. Same as some have teeth that are mostly flat or pulled. Old glass comes with manufacturing issues and this one is no different. That being said...the bowl presents a great look on display! Awesome visual effects...loads of eye appeal ! The Interior ...it is exceptional....I can't make out any wear at all! WOW! Hard to find them like this! Extrodinary as t is usually easily seen wear on the high points of these bowls....but not on this one! Exceptional to say the least. Superb iridescent colors! It appears to have been used for nothing but display throughout its long life. Overall...the interior is extremely nice with some BLAZING HOT COLOR! The Exterior shows off a wonderful mold strike, great detail...very sharp. Overall a silver iridescence. I can't make out any wear at all. That is all I can find on this awesome piece. It is a showy, high quality example! Gorgeous HOT iridescent color...
