This is an AMAZINGLY beautiful piece of early NORTHWOOD glass. The line of VERRE D'OR designs was introduced in 1906. Northwood had obtained a patent for the application of 'liquid gold' onto his glassware items. I don't know what the 'karat weight' of the gold was, but it looks like a 'million bucks' to me !! These gold decorated pieces are stunning and opulent! This is the SUMMER GARDENS pattern on amethyst base glass. It has three scroll shaped feet which have had the application of gold. The interior has a very thick application of gold around the inside edge, between the scallops on the edge and again on the medallion in the center. Please see the photos to see where the gold has become worn in the center and on the feet where they touch the shelf. This piece is marked with the Northwood "N". It is in amazing condition, there is no damage just the usual shelf wear. This large piece measures 10 1/2" across and stands 2 1/4" off the table. The amethyst base glass color is gorgeous! We prefer PayPal, but if you want to use another type of payment, please contact me before you bid. Refunds given only if the piece is not a described/pictured.
