HISTORIC EDGEHILL welcome to our NO-RESERVE auction! property from an important philadelphia family estate collection this auction is for:RARE! COMPLETE SET OF (8) ANTIQUE AMERICAN (OR ENGLISH ?) FEDERAL PERIOD OVAL BRASS FURNITURE / DRAWER PULLS WITH RAISED GRAPES RELIEF DECORATION, ORIGINAL POSTS & BALES , circa 1800-20 a wonderful &exceedingly scarce complete set of (8) PERIOD brass pulls....these are almost impossible to find anymore! each finely detailed stamped brass oval pull with gadrroned edge and central oval panel having repousse raised relief design of grapes with leaves & vines. all retain their original brass bales and round threaded posts and screws intact. even the SCREWS are original and period! including 8 backplates, 8 bales, 16 posts , 16 screws each backplate is 2 3/8" wide x 1.75"; each bale handle is 2.5" wide x 1 1/8"; each threaded post is 1.5" tall overall. my best guess is that they are philadelphia, circa 1800-20, but could possibly be british (unlikely, the appear more american to me). they are NOT later re-casts as most commonly found. no apparent marks. these are RARE and WONDERFUL. in overall excellent, as-found, untouched, unpolished condition; few tiny, tiny back edge tears and t, none serious, old surface, ready to mount on your hepplewhite , sheraton , chippendale , federal ,classical period chest or desk. spectacular set! provenance:the 18th century philadelphia family estate of edna cooke shoemaker BID NOW!
