Spanish Bullfighter Barbie This is a recalled/banned Collector Edition Spanish Barbie issued in 1999. She was pulled from shelves soon after release due to pressure from various animal rights groups and only a very limited number of these dolls were sold. Her Mattel stock number is 24670 and she is from the Dolls of the World Collection. Barbie is wearing an outfit inspired by the traje de luces (suit of lights), worn by the toreadors. The velvety black bolero jacket and matching, knee-length, fitted pants are heavily adorned with metallic gold designs. Under the jacket is worn a black vest with gold braid trim, a satiny white shirt overlaid with lace and a black necktie. Her dark hair is pulled back into a slick up-do and topped with a traditional toreador hat. Pink socks, black shoes and (of course) a red flowing cape complete her outfit. Also included with this doll are a doll stand and Certificate of Authenticity. She is in mint condition and has never been removed from her box. The box is in overall very good condition and displays very well with some light shelf wear along a few edges and corners (please see pictures). This doll recently went on sale on a collectors website and sold out at a sale price of $77.99 (regular price $99.99).
