This beautifully made cross dates from the 1940s. It has a substantial platinum top over an 18K yellow gold base (both tested, not marked), and features four 18K pink gold accents, done in a popular French style of the time (faceted and polished to catch the light). T is beading and engraving work all around the borders of the cross and on its fancy bail. The cross is set with a sparkling white, eyeclean diamond of about 6 to 8 points in the center. This is a modern cut diamond, but the other 11 diamonds on the arms of the cross are very old rose diamonds, in graduating sizes toward the center. These rose diamonds almost certainly were taken from a much older piece of jewelry and put in this setting. They have inclusions normal for rose diamonds, but face up white, clear, and glittering -- not brown, yellow, or speckled with carbon. This cross would make a superb gift for the Easter season, Mother's Day, or any other occasion, and you won't see another one like it! So that it is ready to wear, I have added a brand new, solid 14K white gold Italian-made chain, in a fine but strong box style. It is 18" long and has a bright white finish that coordinates beautifully with the pendant. This is a large, distinctive piece that measures about 1-1/2" by 1", not including the bail, and weighs a very solid 6.8 grams of platinum, gold, and read more
