NUN DOLL: Franciscan Missionary Sister of the Divine Child . This approximately 20" all-porcelain doll, made by renowned doll artist Tanya Williams of Our Mutual Friends, is a true work of art. This educational and catechetical diocesan community was founded in Buffalo, New York by Bishop Turner in 1927 to provide religious education to poor and neglected children in upstate New York. In time, their mission was brought to the state of Texas. Sister is wearing a cotton replica dark, navy blue tunic dress and scapular covered by the order's distinctive square white guimpe. She also wears white head linens and a black veil, complete underclothing including navy blue petticoat, and black stockings and shoes. Her religious articles include a black rosary suspended from the white cincture tied to the right of her tunic and a silver-metal profession cross. This doll is in absolutely pristine condition and is from my personal collection. Note the beautiful face and graceful hands that Ms. Williams has crafted for this doll. All of my dolls are kept in a climate- and light-controlled room in our home that is smoke free; pets and husband are verboten tin. Shipping and handling, including full insurance and delivery confirmation, is $20.00. The doll will be double-boxed for security in shipping.
