As we continue to travel around Italy , we always marvel at the exquisite work of the Italian Nun's and their handmade Religious Artifacts - Ex-Votos and Reliquary. We are pleased to be able to offer you several beautiful pieces this week. IN THIS AUCTION we are pleased to offer this one-of-a-kind Antique Handmade by Nun's Beaded Heart Ex-voto. We absolutely love these heartfelt, personal devotional tributes. The Antique Dealer told us this lovely Heart comes from a Convent in Naples , Italy . This piece is dramatic, delicate and whimsical - all at the same time! In the center of the deep purple-red fabric sits a cut-out of the Baby Jesus, and below Him is a Golden Chalice. Then, loops and swirls of blue, white and pearlescent beads - some resting on a Gold ribbon, others interspersed with flat gold wafers create a feast for the eyes! At the top of the Sacred Heart sits a beaded flower - in pretty pink beads with a blue beaded center - and two pearlescent beaded blooms. The Heart is stuffed and probably contains a prayer. A pale pink cotton backing is intact and t is a small loop for hanging. T are a few beads missing - most noticeable is a half-inch gap of white beads at the top of the Heart. Also, the pink cotton backing shows some staining. However, for a piece of this age, it is in remarkably good condition, a splendid example of Nun's work. It measures 7 1/2 inches (19 cm) by 5 inches (12 cm). This is a unique Ex-voto will grace your collection.
