A Leaf From the Nuremberg Chronicle, Latin Edition: Liber Chronicarum. (Nürnberg Koberger, Anton 12 July 1493) Folio, measuring 16.5" x 11.75". (1)pp. A leaf from the first edition of the seminal work of gathered information on Christendom, and is widely accepted as one of the most important histories of the Bible in the world. The text is Gothic letter, 64 lines to a page, with illustrations by Michael Wohlgemut. This particular leaf is page CLXIIII, and contains 9 woodcut illustrations of various Catholic figures such as Constantine, Leo, Carrolomanus and more . The top margins on both sides state berta etas mundi . The page is two sided, and has one small ink notation, as shown, with minimal light stains in a few tiny places. The edges are in great shape. The print is slightly off center, a shown with some margin gap due to uneven printing. A truly spectacular piece of illustrated Christian history, printed only one year after Columbus discovered the New World! Beautiful for framing.
