On consignment from a NW Estate: Carved Native American NW Coastal Style wooden Indian Dance Rattle as pictured in primary photo; exact age & origin unknown. It is done in style of Tlingit or other NW Coastal peoples and is about 24" in size, has nice solid feal and makes nice sound, rattle, still. It is pictured with some other items for sale from the same estate, some of which have been clearly identified as old and authentic but this item sold only as found by the estate & all estate sales are final. The grey seawolf was a NW Coastal dance mask, actually used 1915-1920's vintage BC coast, the black/red/blue dance rattle is from early & Old Seattle as it is from the Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe as it still has original early 1900's tag still on it which I have shown, they had authentic carvers doing workshop and on site carving for them. Other estate items, totems, etc are marked as Tlingit, etc, and you may see them online soon. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding- EstatesNW!

To correct size as stated this dance rattle is appx 16", not 24" ,like the other rattle listed. To answer several questions. I do not have history on this piece. Yes t is some type of string or cord wrapped around the handle as is the other old rattle that was identified from Ye Olde Shoppe in Seattle. Some people think this is newer and some older, but I have no history on acutal vintage or age. This is estate piece on consignment sold as is and as found and all estate sales final with great colors and carving for this piece, I will try to get some more photos posted as requested. Yes wood looks like cedar but I cannot tell and some of these people were beachcombers and used wood from all over but feels lighter, but solid, like maybe it is but who knows?
