Northwest Africa (NWA) 6159 NEW!!! Specimen weight: 4.78 g Total Known Weight: 622g Classification: CV3 (W2, S1) Up for auction is a part slice of a meteorite that is brand new to the market--Northwest Africa (NWA) 6159. This is its provisional name as it has not been officially adopted by the Nomenclature committee yet (it has been analyzed and submitted). With only 622g of this available to all collectors and scientists in the world, don't let this opportunity slip by to add it to your collection. I purchased a single stone in January 2010 weighing 622g and submitted a sample of it for study and classification. Its full scientific analysis is provided below. Classification was performed by A. Irving of the Earth & Space Science Department at the University of Washington. Don't let this premium example of a CV3 meteorite slip away! Writeup from scientific analysis: Well-formed ellipsoidal to irregular, granular chondrules (some concentrically layered with “dust” rims) and sparse PO chondrules, plus coarse grained CAI (composed of gehlenite, spinel, perovskite, taenite, troilite and Cr-bearing (?)magnetite or metal) and rare amoeboid olivine aggregates (AOA), in a very fine grained dark brown, ferroan matrix. Olivine (Fa 1.9-10.9 ), orthopyroxene (Fs 3.7 Wo 0.6 ), clinopyroxene (Fs 4.8 Wo 33.9 ). What is a CV3? Meteoritical Bulletin read more
