WONDERFUL NORTH WEST COAST INDIAN CHIEFS COPPER, CONSIDERED THE MOST IMPORTANT OBJECT IN THE POTLATCH CEREMONY . COPPER WAS FOUND IN A SEATTLE ANTIQUE SHOP AND WAS PROBABLY MADE FOR A POTCHLATCH IN THE MID 20TH CENTURY . IT IS HAND HAMMERED AND MADE IN THE TRADITIONAL T STYLE SO THAT IT CAN BE BROKEN IN THE RITUAL WAY . THE FRONT SURFACE IS PAINTED BLACK WITH THE FACE OF A STYLIZED BEAR TOTEM WITH THE EYES HAVING BEEN ARTIFICIALY OXYDIZED. COPPER MEARURESTWENTY THREE AND ONE HALF IN. BY ELEVEN AND ONE HALF INCHES , BY ONE EIGHTH INCH THICK. AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION . . THIS IS A OUTSTANDING PIECE OF NWC ART . AND IS OF MUSEUM QUALITY .
