Up for Auction is a LIMITED EDITION baseball sold only at Citi Field on April 13, 2009 when the NEW YORK METS played their first ever game vs the Padres, in the OPENING OF CITI FIELD! This ball is not a regular baseball, but rather somewhat soft and looks like it was designed for children. These will end up being the most difficult balls to find for collectors. The ball has the official Opening Day 2009 logo on one panel, along with the Citi Field Inaugural Season logo with April 13, 2009 date, Mets and Padres logos on another, and lastly one side features the Padres mascot, and the other has Mr. Met. Originally built as a multi-purpose stadium, Shea was also the home of the New York Jets football team until 1983. It was demolished to furnish additional parking for the adjacent Citi Field, the current home of the Mets.
