This is three sections of an atique R 1-9 Front Destination Rollsign. This came from the R 1-9 cars of the IND subway built in the 1930s. These were used in the subway cars and rolled on a scroll to indicate the next stop on the car. Made out of a canvas type paper that is really strong and silkscreened in black ink. These signs came in sections that were often sewn together and this sign is three sections as originally sewn together. The sign measures approximately 20" wide and 90" long. Please note that this is an antique, vintage item and is being sold as is. It is somewhat dirty and may clean up with wiping it down and may not -- that adds to its character. Also please note that the lettering shows up whiter in the pics that it really is -- it is much more yellowed and dirty with age but the flash makes it look brighter.
