Porcelain Roses w/Hand Painted Highlighting Backstamp:Oscar & Edgar Gutherz Royal Austria Circa:1899-1918 Artist Signed: Laportes Up for auction is a Most Beautiful and Delicate Rose Transferware Plate with Handpainted Touches from Oscar & Edgar Gutherz Royal Austria . It is in excellent condition with no noted issues. It is marked on the bottom with a O&EG and a Green Wreathed "Royal Austria" backstamp. Measurement(s) Approximate: 9"- Diameter About Marx & Gutherz ---Oscar & Edgar Gutherz Marks -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1884 Maximilian Marx and Oscar Gutherz established a porcelain decorating factory along the Rolava (Rohlau) River in Stara Role (Altrohlau). The business was financed by Lazarus-Straus. Later the business expanded into making porcelain. 1898 Edgar Gutherz purchased Marxâe(tm)s share of the business. Up to this time, they had an exclusive agreement to market their porcelain under LS&S and their factory mark. 1899 the factory was able to market their porcelain through importers other than LS&S. 1918 the factory was purchased by OEPIAG. 1920 the name was changed to EPIAG.After WWII, the factory was nationalized and became Thun Karlovarský Porcelán AS Zavod Sitotisk.
