The purpose of this knife is (in my opinion) to be an EDC or every-day-carry knife, basically for protection. Obviously you will probably never need it unless you live in a bad neighborhood but it's better to not need it and have it vs. the other way around. I own a Flash II myself with a tanto style blade, which is basically twice the cost and the only thing you're getting is literally a slightly different blade shape (I bought it because of the color mostly). The assisted opening (not automatic mind you) blade is literally just as fast as any switch-blade once you get the hang of opening it with your thumb. I'd say the blade is pretty light for its size but that's because the handle is made out of Zytel, which feels like metal but is some kind of glass-reinforced material. The blade is thick on top and maintains a very sleek wedge all the way to the bottom, making it really easy to sharpen, although professional sharpening is recommended if you need it (I've had mine for about a year and honestly don't feel a difference although 90% of the use the knife went through involved pencil sharpening). There is no point in buying this blade unless you're going to carry it on your person as the clip is very-well made, fits perfectly in a jeans/khaki pocket, and literally leaves no foot-print; I haven't been asked a single-time about the clip in my pants and I often carry it with lighter color pants (the clip is black).
