DESCRIPTION: One, like new, O gauge B&O 2-8-8-8-2 Imperial RailKing Triplex 30-1369-1. TESTED ONLY. 1st B&O I've seen on ebay. 9 pictures of the actual Triplex & box up for auction that can be enlarged for clearer viewing. The paint and lettering/numbering are EXCELLENT. If other pictures are needed, please ask. The Triplex is IMPRESSIVE and HEAVY at 15lbs!!! Being from the Imperial RailKing Line, this engine has great detail, like both an Engineer and Fireman seated figures to start with, and a real coal load in the tender. The 1st & 2nd set of drivers are each powered by their own powerful can motor, w/flywheel. The 3rd set under the tender roll freely (no motor). The engine, tender and frames are die-cast. Operating headlight & front and rear marker lights are all separately attached. The features on this Imperial engine are super, like a remote controlled rear coupler; a synchronized puffing Proto-Smoke System; Locomotive Speed control; Proto-sound 2.0, w/digital command system featuring Freight Yard Proto-Effects. Beautiful bell, whistle and other separately attached details. It operates on O-42 curves . See picture #9 of box label for other details. The label states two operating couplers, but in fact, there is only one on the rear of the tender. A scale size coupler is on the front. It was listed in the 2005, 2nd edition MTH catalog as 30-1369-1 with a M.S.R.P of $699.95. Only 4 real Triplexes were ever built between 1914 & 1916. Three went to Erie and one to the Virginian. MTH made a few models for the B&O and Great Northern Lines, because they were two large railroads that "probably would have" gotten them if they "worked as well as the MTH Triplex". The B&O is known for innovations and experimentation for better, faster and safer railroading. The original triplexes were built to haul a 5 mile long consist of cars, and that was more than 90 years ago. You will NOT be disappointed with this beautiful, unique engine. Proto-Sound 2.0 BATTERIES : They have been replaced with a J&W 3v BCR, which means you NEVER have to worry about batteries again. All you have to do when first starting out with a running sesson, is to power (at least 10 volts) the engine up in neutral , which is how your engine should start out , so the lights shine bright for 60 seconds . I do this with every engine no matter the make or system, because all real life engines have to warm up before running. You're good to go for the whole day. It's charged continually as you run it, and if left sitting for some time, it will hold the charge for at least several days. How cool is that!!!
