ORIGINAL UNRESTORED McDOUGALL /HOOSIER/SELLERS
BAKERS KITCHEN CABINET This original condition unrestored McDougall/Hooser/Sellers cabinet is as complete as can be from the flour bin to the ant trap casters. We state McDougall/Hoosier/Sellers as the make because we are not sure. It has Hoosier style door latches while the oval name plate is similar to a Sellers. The base looks like McDougall. The name plate however has been "abused" and we can't read anything on it. T ia a stencil on the base back of "Klear Front #42". The base door and moving shelves might be a Sellers design. We just can't be certain, maybe someone will id this and let us know. First the good news. This cabinet has TWO porcelain surfaces, one as the main silde-out work surface and one as the bottom storage shelf behind the rollup tambour door. While the storage shelf is in perfect condition, the work top porcelain is in near perfect condition, except for two small edge chips. Both porcelain surfaces are edge trimmed in granite blue. The work top surface can be reversed, thus placing the chips w they cannot be seen. The flour bin lowers out over the work area for sifting and then retracts into the cupboard when not in use. This Hoosier/Sellers cabinet even has the original removable side block w the food grinder is clamped. The upper cabinet doors have holders for spices, receipts, shopping lists and baking tools, cookbooks, etc. When the base cabinet door is opened, the lower storage shelf slides out automatically while the center shelf can be manually pulled out for easy access to items stored t The door has the original wire storage rack attached As you can see, t are three drawers on the right side, the lower being a fully functional intact bread drawer. The top two side-by-side drawers move with the porcelain top as to always be accessible , no mater what work surface position. All drawer pulls, door latches, hinges, and casters are in tact. The base is 38" wide and the top 40". Overall height is 71". Now the bad news, what little t is. The rollup tambour door needs the cloth strips replaced. The door is complete and all slats are t Also, t appears to be a darkened area on the right side of the upper cabinet, most likely from heat. That's it. Should you desire to restore this wonderful piece of Americana, you could not find a more complete Hoosier/Sellers cabinet with which to start. A wonderful e-bayer has informed us this cabinet definitely is a Sellers (G. I. Sellers Co., Elwood, Indiana), about a 1926-27 Kitchenaire model. The tilt-out flour sifter was a patented Sellers feature, as were the ant catchers above the wheel casters. Thanks again to the ebayer for the help. SHIPPING We might suggest Greyhound PackageXpress as a way to ship this item (). The cabinet can be shipped in two pieces, each wighting about 50-60 pounds. Greyhound only requires the dimensions of the package be within 30 inches X 47 inches X 82 inches. We will prepare this for shipment and deliver it to Greyhound for $50.00 Shipping charges are still the responsibility of the buyer. Hope this might help those wanting to bid but not knowing to to ...
