Up for bid today is an a vintage, obsolete, New Jersey Constable badge .This badge is a classic example of the old "Stock Generic Badges" that were issued to many officers back in the early 1900's through the 1930's. This was an easy and affordable way for many small departments to "put a badge on an officer" for an affordable cost. I am not certain of the exact age, but it easily fits into the 1920's to 1950's era. These badges were available "off-the-shelf", from the various Law Enforcement and Fire supply companies of the era. This badge is constructed of brass badge stock and then chrome plated. The pin-back works correctly and is secured with an early style Tongue Catch. These old tongue catches haven't been used for many years. The face of the badge has crisp and clear details, and the letters have been painted with with black enamel. This badge would look amazing in any vintage badge collection or for display on an old constable uniform.I purchased this badge for display with my collection, but unfortunately I don't have a spot for it. It is time for it to find a new home! They don't get much better than this. This badge is obsolete and over 75 years old and does not resemble any current law enforcement badges. It does not convey any authority to the wearer. This badge is sold and intended for display and research purposes only. read more
