Similar prints are regularly sold in the $650 - $900 range. Bid now to win an original antique Japanese print for your home, office, or collection. The history of this beautiful Hiroshige series - In 1858, Hiroshige embarked on this masterwork series, titled "36 Views of Mt. Fuji " ( Fuji sanjurokkei). Inspired by Hokusai's fantastic "36 Views of Fuji" series, Hiroshige produced his wonderful Fuji views in the vertical format similar to his "100 Famous Views of Edo." The vertical format offered a particularly interesting and appealing design style for Hiroshige. His fondness for balancing elements in the foreground with long landscape vistas into the background worked especially well in the vertical format. Unexpected for landscape prints, these images in vertical format proved especially successful with Hiroshige's design style in both this series and his "100 Famous Views of Edo." In Japan , Mt. Fuji is a sacred place and a symbol of the country itself. Rising majestically near the center of Japan , Fuji dominates the landscape and the Japanese national identity. Hiroshige's wonderful Fuji views show the mountain in each of the four seasons from various vantage points. From the urban city center of Edo to cherry blossom viewing in a small village to the fantastic crashing wave at Awa, the mountain always appears serene and unmoved despite the beauty and activity around. The Fuji series is without question one of Hiroshige's great masterworks and prints from this series are highly sought after by collectors. This evening, we are pleased to bring you this wonderful group of prints from Hiroshige's magnificent Fuji series. Enjoy shopping through these fantastic, original Hiroshige prints and make a selection for display or for your collection. They are surely prints that will be treasured for a lifetime! These original Hiroshige prints - The Hiroshige Fuji prints offered this evening are original, second edition prints from the Thirty-six Views of Fuji series. The second edition prints were released by the original publisher using the original, blocks, inks, etc. A fantastic opportunity to own a Hiroshige original at a fraction of the cost of a first edition of the same print.
