Double your traffic. Extremely attractive parquetry twin caddy made during the early part of the 1800’s. Though ‘specimen wood’ boxes were made in various countries the veneers used on this particular possibly suggest that this box was made by one of the Tunbridge Ware makers. Measures approximately 8” x 4 ¾” x 5”. Octagonal form that was popular during the late 1700’s-early 1800’s. Unspoilt patina. Parquetry ‘panels’ to all aspects of the exterior. There has been some restoration to the veneer on the narrow left side of the back of the caddy but other than that all of the exterior veneer is in excellent condition……all original and complete. The caddy never had feet fitted, the bottom edges still protected by the original thick veneer ‘border’ and green felt. The top is slightly out of square with the base but it is not warped. Original paper lining to the lid interior in very good condition. What is believed to be the original hinges and lock, (Key for decorative purposes only….Lock mechanism has been tested and is in good condition. Foil lining to both tea storage sections and the lid undersides in excellent condition. Replacement solid brass knobs. Judging by the condition of the inlays, surface finish and base this caddy has seen little use. It is not often that a caddy of this style and period features on eBay. An excellent
