This is an original copy of the 1976 release "Can't Keep A Good Man Down" by the Immortals (Bobby Sarkie was a member of this group), produced by Augustus Pablo (Horace Swaby) on Lister Hewan-Lowe's New York-based branch of Pablo's Yard Music label (Lister also ran the great roots label Clappers). At the same time, Hewan-Lowe also headed up the NYC office of Island Records' reggae subsidiary Mango. This tune was mixed at the famous King Tubby's. The B-side is the usual dub mix of the song. Sounds like Santa Davis on drums and Pablo on keys. T's another version of this tune cut to the "My Conversion" riddim that was released on the Mellotone label. This record is from my personal collection; I'm not a buy-and-sell-or-trade type of dealer. Like much of my vinyl, I bought this record when it came out, played it a few times, recorded it to cassette and then put it back in its sleeve for the next 34 years!
