I got this cutie pie near Park Rapids, Minnesota. I believe her to be from the first half of the 1900's. The main material of the cradle is heavy black wool felt. T is delicate floral bead work done on both the top of the backboard and the sides of the cradle. The black flaps of the cradle have burgundy colored seem binding around the edges. T is a home tanned buckskin lacing that tightens and ties to close the front of the cradle and also a buckskin strap on the back for carrying. Inside the cradle, under the doll, is a little white pad that looks to be made of thick, soft, white wool and stuffed with mattress stuffing.The cradle measures 15 1/4 inches from top to bottom and 7 1/4 across the widest part top of the backboard, and about 4 inches across the bottom. Now we come to the cute little hand crated cutie inside. She has a grouping of black beads for the eyes with a metal bead at the center that makes for a little twinkle in her eye. The face is delicately embroidered with black thread around the eyes and nose and eyebrows, and red for the lips. The black hair is some sort of yarn that has been sewn into place. The body is made of the fabric that used to be used in ladies long, flesh colored stockings in the early 1900's(not shear nylons). She is wearing a little shell necklace made of wampum beads. She also has a simple buckskin dress with fringed edges. She has little under pants pinned to her belly. The pants are made from what looks to be the cuff material of a white sock and is embroidered all around the outside edges with pink and white thread. She is wrapped in a little flannel blanket that has machine edge stitching on it. The doll stands about 10 1/2 inches tall and is 5 3/4 inches across the chest including the down-stretched arms.Please only bid if you are serious about buying and paying for the item.
