A fine ivory okimono by Masakazu( 1868-1911), A mother monkey with her two babies mounted on her back, very finely carved, mellow patina, oval reserve signed "Masakazu" , 19th century ( Meiji period). Provenance: Estate of the great grandson of Captain Seabury, USS Korea, 19th c. Condition is good overall, but it does have cracks in the bottom, also t are a few hairline cracks in other areas, most of them so fine that they do not show up on the photos. In fact I had to use the magnifying glass under a bright light before I saw them. I was told by a local collector that these are from age and drying and nothing can be done about it. Surely expected in a piece of ivory this old. Still a great little treasure by a well known Meiji period carver. Dimensions: approximately 1.75" high by 1.75" wide by 1.25" deep. Authenticity guaranteed!
