Rustic Adirondack Old Hickory Bench Arts & Crafts Period CIRCA 1920 Offered for auction is an original Arts & Crafts Period Rustic Hickory Bench/Stool. This early Adirondack piece dates to the first quarter of the 20th Century. I have not been able to locate a signature or find this particular Model in the Old Hickory Catalog. This Bench is unique; though it's similar to the steam bent seat models found in the book this bench has handles on each side of the top. It also has more detail having a Double Stretcher base. I purchased it along with a matching Bench & Table and 2 Green Painted Stickley Mission Oak Rockers. (see pictures) This bench is Structurally Solid. T is some missing bark on the handles and one of the legs has a large piece missing. Like the table top the finish is almost entirely gone from the seat area. It looks like it was never or rarely overcoated. The leg bottoms are very good and retain their height & eveness. The owner got a little happy with green paint and t are some marks and t on the legs... Other than that it's in great shape but could do with a good overcoat of varnish. (this is the bench pictured to the left of the table). I think its best to offer items like this in original as found condition. This will be a great addition to a Rustic Arts & Crafts Collection.
