~*~Today I have for you, an Early Maine Pack Basket~*~

I was lucky enough to acquire this wonderful vintage Adirondack pack basket this summer while out antiquing. I purchased it from a local gal in Madison (Central Maine). She said it was her grandfather's. He was a trapper & used it frequently. It was passed down to her, but thought time to part with it...can you imagine!?* I am no expert on things of this nature, but will do my best to describe this antique treasure! It measures 15" tall (17" with handle) x 12" wide across top x 11" deep across top. I believe it is made of ash and has a great darkened patina. About 1/3 of the very top (looking down on the basket) has come unwould and is now tied with some old twine & some string. T are a few breaks, please see pics, 2 being on the front under the top. T's water marks & some darkened marks from many years of use. A handle is attached inside on the back for easy carrying. This still has the original adjustable cotton straps with rusted metal buckles. T's a small cotton tag attached to the front of the strap that says "Joanne Carr". My guess is that she was the maker. Overall, I would say this is in very good condition. I've seen a many with major breakage & wear...this is still completely useable!

I highly recommend insurance, as I cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items once they leave my hands. Whenever possible, I will gladly combine shipping to save you $$! All sales are final and come from a smoke free home.
