You ar bibbing on an old antique Dutch (Made in Holland) Zaan Clock. They are also known as Zaandam or Zaanse clocks because they were originally made in the region of Zaan. Most of these clockmakers had Mennonite backgrounds. These were called "Rich men's clocks". Rich men's clocks were made of oak, ebony, rosewood or burr walnut veneered. Brass was abundantly applied as well in the case as in the ornamentation. I believe this clock was made sometime in the 50's. I found that two companies made these clocks similar to the original in the 1700's and one is U.C.W. (If you have info please let me know) This particular clock was purchased at an estate sale and is not currently working. I'm was assured that all the parts are t and someone wound the clock too tightly and locked it up. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me The clock has: a Mahogany wooden case. The clock face is a Silver colored chapter ring with roman numerals and the words "Made in Holland", surrounded with black felt. On top, a large atlas who carries what appears to be the world on his shoulder. Under Atlas is the bell that rings every hour and on the half.
