This auction is for a beautiful very old Bering Sea Eskimo carved ivory pipe found in Shishmaref, AK in the early 1930's. It measures just over 3 1/4 inches long by just under 1 3/4 inches wide at it's widest. It has a nice old dark patina. T are a few chips in the surface which are also obviously very old because of the dark patina. This pipe is another item from the large collection of Native American Art and Artifacts of my late father in law which we've been listing over the last 14 months. He began collecting during childhood. As an adult he became a teacher and used his summers off to pursue his collecting traveling throughout the US and Canada to acquire items for his collection. He lived and taught school in Alaska for many years before retiring home. He passed away in 2002. Please email me with questions regarding this item.
