KO BIZEN TEA CADDY Authentic Ko Bizen ( Old Bizen ware : http://www.aisf.or.jp/~jaanus/deta/b/bizenyaki.htm ) large-size C haire ( Tea caddy vessel ) with a kiln sign, ' mata ' at the bottom, and a signed wooden box (as " Ko Bizen taikai chaire "), from Momoyama period, circa 1573-1596, or earlier. --- * Size : about H 3.8 x D 3.2 in (9.5 x 8.0 cm) T his is the rare sophisticated masterpieces of Ko Bizen vessel (chaire) of Momoyama period, which was succeeded among collectors and tea masters from generation to generation even if you also understand by checking the pictures and comparing with the other similar pieces. Though its box is signed as 'taikai chaire', this piece is much taller than usual taikai chaire but its provable characteristic horizontal lines are designed. So, it had been used as an exceptional large-size taikai chaire, and moreover, its unequaled quality had been tasted rather than its classification. Please just see and enjoy its stately manly figure with marvelous tasteful natural surface, and you will understand this piece is not a common old Bizen ware. No need to explain ...
