Yellow Ware /Yelloware Early Brush-McCoy Dandy-Line Mini Mixing Bowl Tiny and OLD! is a fabulous, rare find that was manufactured by the Brush-McCoy company - a yellow ware mini mixing bowl with lovely, skinny, slip-painted white stripes on its raised ridges. This 4 ½" wide, lipped bowl is part of the "Dandy-Line" yellow ware manufacturing line, which started in 1916 (Brush-McCoy itself started in about 1910). Dandy-Line was made up of kitchen dishes: yellow ware with white stripes. (A set of nesting mixing bowls of the Dandy-Line does exist, but I am not sure if this is part of that set.) I've seen the Dandy-Line dated in the 1930s, but I have my doubts. Brush-McCoy changed to simply "Brush" in the late 1920s (the McCoy's sold their part of the company around then) and George S. Brush himself passed away in 1934. At any rate, this line of yellow ware/kitchen ware has a wonderfully cozy look to it! The primitive aspect of this hand-thrown bowl is apparent, but it is still well-made. The imperfections make it closer to perfect, in my opinion - very "crafty" and "home-y"! The white slip stripes were clearly hand painted, t are a few imperfections in the glaze ("pops" in the glaze in a few spots). T are small areas of roughness on one side, but I believe they are factory flaws. Even so, I have included a photo for you to judge for yourself. Because of the extreme age of this bowl, it is crazed. T are no major cracks or chips! Amazing for an early 20 th -century utilitarian piece! The impressed mark of "168" is clear (but not even - most likely hand-stamped) on the bottom, but the mini-mixing bowl is otherwise unmarked. This little guy is the perfect size for display, measuring about 4 1/2" across, and 2" tall. I've seen a couple small Dandy-Line bowls, but none this small. This is a lovely, primitive little piece of early 20 th -century American art pottery, from Brush-McCoy - a historical player in the industry! Add it to your McCoy or yellow ware collection, or simply display it on a shelf in your "country kitchen"! J
