Up for Auction is What we Believe to be an EXTREMELY RARE find as we have never come across an ashtray like this. It seems to be a Commemorative Piece. This was found at an estate buyout of a Silver Collector who passed on. The lot we obtained has some of the best Sterling/Silver we have ever obtained. You may have seen items listed already and t is more to come. We only did a quick cleaning and left alone.
Pic's show all angles and speak more than words, although I will do the best I can to Describe. I apoligize for our lack of knowledge on the piece, as we did want to hold off ebay in order to research piece further. Do not see anything else this could be except an ashtray/cigarette rest. It is small but very heavy for it's size. T is Very Extreme attention to detail with both Images and Words.The Cigarette rest portion has a crown on the end with Image below. The inside Sides and Feet (Look like Paws) that in stands on are all Designed in Detail. In the center of Inside of Piece is a detailed Crown over what looks like a Shield with a Wreath like Design Around Sides and Bottom. Inside the Shield is a Circle of Stars -- the inside contains a type of Globe with Four Triangles on the Outside and a Band going Around the Globe. Above that going in a Circle it reads IN HOC SI GNO VINCES.The Bottom has 1000 in the Middle with Designs around it . It reads in a circle PETRUS II.D.G.CONST.IMP.ET PERP.BRAS.DEF. At bottom is the date 1866 (not sure if this is year of Piece or if this is a Commemorative Piece Celebrating that Year (Sure Collectors Will Know).Underneath the cigarette Rest Part is the # 900 (Believe taht denotes Coin Silver). The 900 is followed by a Symbol that looks like an Anchor (my best description would be a semi-circle on the bottom with what looks like a martini glass coming up from the middle with a circle on top).I hope this Description helps in addition to Pic's.At it's Widest (end of Crown on Cigarette Rest to other side) it measures Approx. 2.5". The none rest part stands approx. .75" high off of surface. It weighs approx. 29 grams (approx. 1 oz.). EXCELLANT CONDITION.
