~ OLD HAND CARVED & PAINTED RED BREASTED MERGANSER DECOY ~ I'm pleased to have offered for your bidding consideration, this wonderful vintage (1960's I believe) decoy branded Jimmy Bowden (of Chincoteague , Virginia) on its underside. One of his early carvings, this is a Red-Breasted Merganser and a beauty at that with beautiful form and great coloring! This features excellent original paint, with nice details. I can't tell if the red eyes are a hard plastic or glass but are very lifelike. I would say that he is in very good condition with no major damage, and some wear, as shown in my photos... a slight hairline crack at the midpoint of his neck as well as at the base of neck... but he's sturdy & handsome as they come to make for a wonderful piece to display! It is weighted and also has a long (approx. 60") string and a molded 5-point star shaped lead weight attached by a thick gauge twisted piece copper wire. I'm not an expert in decoys by any means so am describing by what I can see and info I was provided with when I purchased this. He's a great size, measuring at 17 ¼" long x 5 ½" wide and is approximately 8" tall. I have a black plastic stand for him which is also included. ~ For your convenience, insurance is included in shipping price ( U.S. bidders only) ~ Thanks for visiting my auction...
