Up for auction is a very old sterling necklace, made in Mexico around the 1940's, made up of grape leaves and grapes. It is all hand made, from the braided wire rings that connect it to the leaves, to the grapes. Made of solid sterling, each grape is individually soldered to each other, and backed with a fine piece of sheet sterling silver. T are 16 smaller bunches and the centerpiece, the center piece measuring 1 1/2 X 1 1/4. The piece was obviously hand made, as t are tool marks left behind by the artist. The necklace is in excellent condition with very tiny flea sized dings in the center piece, of which I tried to capture with the camera, they are small and hard to see with the naked eye, otherwise fabulous.. The necklace is short, being early, it is only 15 inches long, however one could easily add an extension to wear it. I do not clean jewelry, I leave that up to the owner/collector,the patina is gorgeous to me. This is a collectors item. I feel that this is an early Mexico City piece as it does not have a artist signature that I can find, and it dates to pre- WW II.. I bought this piece on the worlds longest yard sale 6 years ago from the sweetest lady from Tennessee you could ever meet. A very nice piece of old Mexican sterling jewelry to add to any jewelry collection. This is a no reserve, low start auction. High bidder
