Hello and welcome to my auction. For sale you have a very old Aboriginal woomera from Western Australia, 64cm in length, I'd say very early 20thC with zig-zag carvings on the front of snake-like shape, the reverse undecorated with deep signs of adzing, great dark chocolate patina from years of handling. It is a rare type of woomera with its geometrical shape, wooden handle and unusual inserted peg, now missing. Apart from that old loss the woomera is in great sound condition. In my opinion it even seems to have been stone cut or deeply adzed at the time of manufacture, and then later smoothed in few places (especially the reverse and the handle) using metal tools but when the woomera was still in use given the deep patina. It is certainly a beautiful and rare object! Provenance: Australian private collection. It was reputedly given to the previous owner's husband by an Aboriginal person in the late '60s after a little "misunderstanding" in a pub in Onslow, WA, as a gift exchange. Please have a look at my other auctions for other important artefacts. This item will cost 40US$ to be shipped worldwide, 25US$ within Australia. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need some more information or if you have any question at all! So... good luck and happy bidding!!
