Sweet indigo & white quilt, approximately 72" X 82". The quilt is very thin (a "summer" quilt) and has little batting. Appears to have been hand pieced, except for the border, which would have been put on with a treadle sewing machine. Very close and exquisite straight line quilting at 10 stitches per inch! The quilt is in very nice shape. The indigo fabrics are in almost perfect condition (considering the quilt's age). I found one windmill with one block that has minor fabric wear and one windmill w a seam has pulled apart slightly. The white fabric between the indigo border and the binding has more wear as does the binding itself. The last picture shows the worst area of fabric wear. Please let me know if you'd like more pictures of the wear to the fabric or a more extensive description. The quilt is very clean, sweet smelling, and has no age spotting. I found one area, smaller than a dime, with a grayish mark. This quilt comes from my clean smoke-free home! T is quite a variety of fabrics from the 1880's to 1910. All are indigo (also called "cadet") blue and white, except for one windmill, which has a few blocks in indigo and chrome yellow. It's my favorite windmill and makes the quilt a little special in my opinion! As I write the description of this quilt, I'm thinking, "no, no, I can't part with it!" But now that our children are grown,we're moving to a much smaller house, and I need to downsize much of what I've collected over the years. :-( Thus, I will be selling many real treasures, so be sure to check my other auctions. Over the coming weeks, watch for antique and new linens, vintage and new jewelry, beads, antique stoneware, and other great stuff! I will combine shipping costs whenever possible to save you money.
