Really handsome old Majolica/Faience portrait bust from a very luxe local Dallas estate sale. SIGNATURES OR MARKINGS: Appears unsigned on my honest inspection, but certainly European and most likely Italian. AGE DISCUSSION: An old estate piece and obviously old as shown. Overall, I would date it to the late 1800s or very early 1900s, ca. 1880 - 1910 and probably older rather than newer within this date range. CONDITON REPORT/IMPORTANT/NOTE RESTORATION: This piece shows evidence of a very expert old professional repair. The white substance visible on the interior of the piece [see pic #8] corresponds to several large repaired cracks in the area of the figure's chest and shoulders. All of the breaks are in the blue area, with the white area not affected. Most of the breakage affects the back of the figure in the blue area, but t is one restored crack to the front of the figure, in the area of the figure's left arm and shoulder. It is a very expert old repair and it only *very* slightly affects the aesthetics of the piece when it is displayed on a shelf in normal indoor lighting. I include pics taken in both natural light and with a strong flash and please see especially pics #4 and #7. Except for the repair, no problems noted. It is a very luxe old piece, but it has been **restored** and please buy/offer accordingly. SIZE: Just under 9" tall and about 8.5" long [measurements approximate].
