Hand Crafted (Hoopa) Hupa or Karuk or Yoruk Native American Twined Polychrome Hat Created from Gatd Native American Plants Circa 1910 - 1940 3 inches high x 6 5/8 inches in diameter, 20 3/8 inches in circumference (carefully measured) Condition; Near Mint, (no restoration or repair nor damage). This basket is made from gatd bear grass, fern, woodardia, and conifer root, or other materials typical of baskets from this tribe and region. The basket is fine quality with about 11 warps and 11 wefts to the inch. The high contrast, full color, design is beautiful, with three polychrome design elements. The pattern is created with the half twist twining typical of the Hoopa and Karuk. The Karuk Tribal Group's homeland is near the mouth of the Klamath River in North West California . This basket was from a Sonoma County , California collection. Shipping can be combined on multiple items if feasible. Satisfaction is guaranteed.
