This is a fine old advertising crock folks. The front reads ... Compliments of I. Rambach , Kittanning , Pa. , Dealer in Friedman`s Oak Grove Oleomargerine. " The Dainty Spread For Bread ". I researched this company and the only reference I could find was in an old Kittanning business and residential directory dated 1919 - 1920. It made reference to a Rambach ( Israel ) General store & Meats which would have been located on Orr Ave. in Kittanning. This time frame makes sense due in part to the date marked on the reverse of the crock. The reverse reads ... Made In The U.S.A. By A.D.Graham & Co. , Braddock , Pa. , Patented 6 - 2 - 14 . It goes on in smaller print with how to make the butterine workable. I researched this company as well but could find no information on it. The crock is a one gallon size. It is 7" tall and has a 7 7/8" top diameter and a 7 3/8" bottom diameter. It is in wonderful condition. T are no chips or cracks. It rings like a bell when tapped. Listen up ! When found this crocks exterior was completely painted red. I gave it an extensive cleaning and successfully removed about 99% of the paint. The finish was in no way damaged by the removal of the paint. You will find some remaining traces of the paint in the nooks and crannies and you can also see some black smudges in the area of the front print. These smudges are under the glaze and were done by the manufacturer. All in all , a wonderful looking crock. That`s it , if you have any questions , please don`t hesitate to ask . Please Note !
