Wonderful, all HAND MADE amish school house!! This wonderful piece of folk art was purchased at a Missouri antique store about 15 yrs ago. (We are moving to a smaller home, and just can not keep all of our "treasures"). This schoolhouse has excellent detail, each shingle on the roof is cut wood, the school house siding looks hand carved, and the windows even have tiny panes! The front door is hinged, and the sign above it reads "Warren School". Someone over the years tried to make this piece into a lamp, for t are old lamp parts inside. (You can not see them unless you open the tiny front door and use a flashlight) We never tried to remove them, or take the bottom off, etc. The only history we know about this piece, is that the shop owner told us it was originally made by an elderly amish gentleman who was too old to work outside in the fields, etc. The shop owner had obtained it from a lady who had bought it in Jamesport, Mo. It is a wonderful piece, that will surely stir conversation in your home. Schoolhouse measures 11 inches tall, 14 inches long, and 6 inches wide. Very much to miniature scale, and perfect for a shelf, mantle, or coffee table! Selling with NO RESERVE, at the price we paid 15 yrs ago! Can accept paypal, mo or ck.
