Old Wooden Treen Miniature Canoe Paddle with Carved Indian Chief Head This is an old wooden treenware (treen) miniature canoe paddle. It measures 18" long and 2" across the paddle end and a little over an inch on the handle end. What makes this piece special is that the Indian Chief is not a decal, it is hand carved and t are hand carved decorations going down the handle on on it's end. I have seen these with decal decoration but not with this type of carved decoration. At first I thought it may be pyrography which was a popular wood decorating technique around the turn of the century (19th to 20th). I think it may have been a souvenir piece or possibly made by Native Americans for the tourist trade. I am not sure what type of wood this is. I can tell you that it is a light weight wood, maybe poplar. If you have any questions, or would like additional photographs, please email me and I will answer you asap. I use USPS shipping unless you request another method. I recommend insurance and/or delivery confirmation but I will leave that up to you.
