I was told that this knife sheath and knife are Blackfoot but I am not sure. I bought this at an estate sale with many other artifacts and hoped to do research, but I haven't gotten around to it. It appears to be very old. The sheath is constructed from parfleche and is decorated on one side with a faded simple design of red and black stripes. The sheath is sewn very simply with sinew and has parfleche fringe. It is buckstiched at the top and has a simple sewn belt loop on the inside. The knife is quite rusted (see photos) and has parfleche covered wooden handle. The sheath is 9" long and 2 3/4" wide at the widest spot not including fringe. Fringe is curled with age but adds another 3 1/2" or so. The knife blade is 5 1/4" long and 1" wide and the handle is 5 1/4" long. Please email with any questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability.
