This auction is for a fantastic part of old China. This is an authentic item. As my clients know - I sell only the real thing. Very Rare to find an older Peking lacquer in this fabulous condition!! This plate is gorgeous!!! The hand painting is done with real 24 KT gold. Until one tries to finely paint with real gold - one can not appreceiate the precious art. Watching the old masters paint these borders is an mind boggling art.. This is a very old plate from before Communism - not a copy. The lacquer is lacquer from the Lac tree and superbly done. The body under the lacquer is wood. This has also been hand made before painting. The plate is extremely well done!! This lacquer art is very hard to find without repair or damages. Old collectible and not an item seen often. The price for this item is ridiculously low!!! The picture is not very good and the color of the gold is rich in a deep carat coloring - very hard to get pictures. Very hard to capture the different carats of gold and detailed design against the deep rich finish of natural lacquer. The camera does not like the real gold against black lacquer so expect much much better. Exquisitely done and a wonderful example of the very Old China which I miss so much.
