Offered is an old photo album with more than 125 photographs and snapshots on 25 pages. Though most pictures are not captioned it appears that the album centers around a family in the mining and excavating business, and that most photos were taken in Northeastern Oregon or Southeastern Washington during the 1940s and into the 1950s.. Several photos of excavating equipment on the job, a few of them identifiable (Atkinson Dredging Company, Oroplata Mining Company, Northwest, MKO); two 8x10 photos dated 1958 showing construction of the powerhouse of Ice Harbor Dam on the Snake River; several snapshots of workers (posing with equipment, tools, etc.); photos of friends and family (with cars, in front of houses and buildings, on lumber piles; a few snaps of friends posing on a small town Main Street in winter, the "Alfred Thode" General Merchandise and gas station visible in most pictures (I did a google search and came up with the possibility that this town may be somew around the Blackjack Mines or Umatilla National Forest). Album measures 10" x 14" x 1". Fairly good condition- Some past moisture damage to the first page, some crimps and bent corners, and some "holes" w photos are missing. Most photos are attached to the pages by paste or stamped corners or both, some are loose between pages. Several pages of the album were never filled. read more
