Interesting old pottery piggy bank in the shape of a stylized glazed pig. The pig is about 5-¾" from snout to rump and about 3-½" at its tallest. T is no manufacturer's name in the pottery but t are various numbers underneath. They look like 1X63 going across and a number 2 with a dash below the 3. The glaze is unusual. The lower half is a solid creamy color (with a tinge of light orange-yellow to it). The top half has streaks of rich brown and green overglaze which end abruptly at the middle. T are openings for eyes and an opening for coins on top. The pig has a few problems! The slot on top is chipped and flaked around its edges, touching somewhat on to the upper back of the pig. T is general glaze crazing on the cream areas and some soiling (hard to see) on the upper portion. T is a glaze flake at the top of each ear. T is some kind of line in the glaze from the back of the rump circling underneath that looks like a hairline or crazing line but I think was actually part of manufacture. In spite of his infirmities this is still a great little pig! Please note! I will be unable to answer e-mails from 8/18-8/20. Buyer pays $4.75 Priority Mail S&H (in U.S.). Buyer pick-up is NOT an option. INSURANCE IS EXTRA AND DETERMINED AT THE END OF THE AUCTION. NYS residents add appropriate sales tax. International bidders - feel free to e-mail read more
