This is an antique dug bottle found in Trinidad Colorado, an Old West town situated on the Old Santa Fe Trail. I believe this bottle traveled the route in the early days. It has an applied top. The glass is amber with suspended bubbles. It will need cleaning! It is in great condition for age though, with no cracks or visible damage. The bottle is about 11 1/2" tall and holds about a quart. Inside the slug plate in block letters: AURORA BREWING COMPANY AURORA IND. From my research I find that " Thomas and James Gaff built the T. & J.W. Gaff & Co. distillery in downtown Aurora Indiana on the banks of Hogan Creek in 1843. It made bourbon, rye, and Thistle Dew scotch whiskey. They started the Great Crescent Brewery in 1873 and owned other businesses in town as well as owning several steamboats that transported the distillery and brewery products. The major brand was Aurora Lager Beer. Brewery closed in 1899" Low start and no reserve! I will be listing other rare beer, soda and whiskey bottles soon, so please bookmark and check back. Thanks for looking!
