A couple of very old flags that are in rough shape, these flags are fresh from an estate sale and were found in the attic. They are small (muslin?) banner type flags that are attached to a small wooden dowel. The old Red Ensign measures 11.5" X 12" and is very frayed, stained and coming away from the dowel. The unusual looking white flag appears to have been some type of prototype flag prior to our current flag The Maple Leaf which was introduced in 1965. This flag is on a white background with the Union Jack in the upper left corner and the Fleur de Lis in the upper right corner. In the center and lower portion of the flag are 3 red Maple Leafs . This is similiar to the Pearson Prototype, except it differs with the representation of both England and France besides the 3 maple leafs to represent Canada. I wasn't able to find anything on the net about this flag and it has really piqued my curiousity. If anyone can shed some light on this mystery, please fill me in. The white flag is a muslim type fabric and measures 17" X 9". T are stains on the flag and some fraying at the edges. Please see my pics to determine condition for yourself.
