Up for auction is a vintage to antique pair of earrings for pierced ears. The mountings are reminiscent of Belcher like style with four long claw prongs that hold the stones and the metal has a rose hued tone. The omega shaped wing-nut backs are tapped at the front and at the back allowing them to be completely screwed onto the threaded posts of the earrings and are hallmarked 18K. The overall face size of the mountings measures 7mm in diameter, set up off the ear 4mm and have a combined weight of 2.2g prior to packing. The stones themselves measure 4mm in diameter x 1+m thick. The bottoms are flat and the stones are cut with an ever so slight curvature across their crowns...very well colored and sold to me as jade. I agree that with their clean bright emerald green coloring along with the white...being somewhat translucent, these have every appearance of being fairly high quality gemmy jadeite yet on a gem tester they register as emeralds! So that is what I believe them to be and with their coloration they will work equally well with emeralds or jadeite and of course with other rich and mellow rose toned gold pieces. Quality earrings, ultra feminine with some age, actually I think a lot of age. They are very pretty and a pair that could be worn on a daily basis, they're nice.
